When you need a little smack of Glim

HOV’n

May 14th, 2008 by Jason

Gas prices are getting ridiculous. We know this, it’s nothing new. I know it was my so called “choice” to buy a big ol’ gas-guzzling truck. I don’t regret it… …This is Texas for crying out loud! But high gas prices have afforded me some priceless quality time with my wife in the HOV lane.

I purchased an iPod stereo dock after christmas (thanks B!!) that I stuck in the bathroom. I crank it up every morning while I am in the shower. Godsmack, Stonesour, Beasties. Whatever I’m in the mood for. By the time I get to the truck I’m wide awake and ready to rock. I’m a retard, I know.

You may be asking yourself “Jason, where are you going with this?”

Sit back and I’ll tell you…

This morning when I got in the truck, Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” was playing on XM. Excellent road trip song to work I thought. Not so according to Terri:

“Do we really have to listen to Metallica this early in the morning? This song just goes on and on and on. It’s giving me a headache”

“Baby… ….It’s Metallica, it’s designed to do that.”

“It’s not even 7.”

So, having been defeated on the Metallica argument, I reluctantly changed to another station.

“This is much better, thank you.”

“…*long pause*… You can’t do Metallica in the morning? I get that. But Rob Zombie’s “More Human than Human” is ok?”

I have to give it to Terri, she knows what she likes.

So later on I was returning from lunch with the guys. We noticed some idiots rocking out in a car next to us and it reminded Warren of Wayne’s World. He then asked me if I had “Bohemian Rhapsody” on my iPod. Who doesn’t have that on their iPod. It’s a classic. Needless to say I had it, off of the Wayne’s Word soundtrack in fact. Anyway, we listened to it a few times on our way back to the office. When I got into my truck after work it was still going. I decided I was going to let it play until Terri screamed to pay her back for the Metallica incident. After about 20 minutes of the song playing in the background this occured:

“How many times are you going to listen to this stupid song?”

“Until your head explodes! ….Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for meeee!!!”

“Well, at least it’s not that Metallica Muppets song!”

“*sigh*”

Folks, this may be the first time Metallica and the Muppets where used in the same sentence.

Feeling Mischievous

May 13th, 2008 by Jason

mis·chie·vous [mis-chuh-vuhs] –adjective

1. maliciously or playfully annoying.
2. causing annoyance, harm, or trouble.
3. roguishly or slyly teasing, as a glance.
4. harmful or injurious.

If you don’t find these funny, you need to have your head examined. There’s some strong language on the first two so beware.

Overheard…

May 13th, 2008 by Jason

Terri was watching an episdoe of Supernatural while I was doing whatever it is that I do on the computer and I heard this conversation between two of the main characters, Dean and Sam.

“Those prints match a guy who died in 1981.”

“Really… so what are we talking walking dead uh, walking, killing dead?”

“Yeah.”

Zombies do like the other, other white meat.”

I tried to resist liking this show but it is slowly growing on me…

I am Iron Man?

May 10th, 2008 by Jason

Because of repeated suggestions from Mark, last night Terri and I went to see Iron Man. It was killer!! I highly recommend it to anyone. It’s one of the best movies we have seen this year. Be sure to stay in the theatre until after the credits roll.

After the show Terri and I had this conversation:

“If you were a superhero…”

“If?”

“…*sigh*, If you were a superhero, you’d be Tony Stark.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Because, he stays in the basement and builds cool stuff. He also breaks everything.”

“hmm”

I never really thought of myself as a comic book hero. I was always more partial to Han Solo (who shot first BTW!). Don’t get me wrong, I am flattered to know that when my wife sees Iron Man she thinks of me, I just wasn’t expecting it. So the next time she tells me she loves me I am going to pause, sit back like a pimp and respond with “I know”.

WTF?

May 7th, 2008 by Jason

I know. I’ve been busy. What can I say? I’m sorry.

Enough excuses, Here’s the updates:

I passed college algebra with an A. I know that doesn’t sound like a big deal but believe me it is. I am pretty proud of myself. I have taken college algebra a number of times but life always seemed to get in the way. It was really odd to stress over exams again. I am 31 years old and consider myself successful. I don’t really need to pursue a degree anymore but I still want one for self fulfillment. I am starting English Comp over the summer. Funny…

My manager at work was promoted to Project Director a few weeks ago which left her position open (Way to go Mishka!). I did not think I had a chance at filling her role as manager of Network Services, those are big shoes to fill. However, I was eventually approached about the position by my director. He told me that I was being considered for the job. I went through a few agonizing weeks while the decision was being made. Last week I found out the position was mine. How exciting! I was installing fax machines five years ago. I can’t believe how far I have come. I just hope I can gain and maintain the respect of my teammates as their leader.

Terri and I have begun steps to start a family. More on that later…

I did finally obtain an electric guitar. Let me preface that by saying “I suck”. I enjoy playing but I have no skill. I can play Green Day’s “Brain Stew” but that’s about it. I wonder how Terri feels about me playing out my Rock N’ Roll fantasy in front of her?

I got Astros/Yankees tickets for Father’s Day. My Dad is a huge Yankees fan. He’s going to head this way for Father’s Day so we can go to the game. I am so excited. Astros, Yankees, my Dad, my brother, me, Father’s Day, some dome dogs and beers. How cool is that?

I beat Assassins Creed (Pretty Cool). Started Mass Effect (Engrossing). GTA IV is awesome and has been occupying most of my free time. Blowing up hot dog stands is hilarious. I highly recommend it.

Things we are waiting on:
Projekt Revolution in Houston – Terri’s got this whole Chris Cornell crush going on right now

The Dark Knight – Terri’s got this whole Heath Ledger crush going on right now

Indian Jones – Jason’s got this whole Indiana Jones man crush going on right now

3G iPhone – Even Terri can’t wait

Lost to be found. I love to hate that show.
