Any port in a storm.

September 13th, 2008 by Jason

Terri and her parents are doing fine. They made it through the storm ok. The power is still out in Pasadena. The Carroll’s house has some minor wind damage. Our neighbors from across the street checked on our house. The front of the house looked great except for the gate-side fence was down. They took a field trip to the rear and noticed the patio cover had blown into the neighbors yard but our roof was intact. There was no water penetration into the house. Awesome! I wanted to build a new fence and patio cover anyway. Thanks Ike! I’ll post pics when they become available. As far as Baylor goes, everything here is business as usual. I may be here for a while. Highway 288 is a lake so I may not be able to drive home for some time.

Some hurricane humor for you:

Gross Anatomy

September 13th, 2008 by Jason

It’s 7 am and we just returned from a walk around the main campus.

The Alkek building sprung some leaks at the entry points.

While walking around we heard about a huge breach in the Gross Anatomy lab. This is where some of our fiber enters the building so we raced down to check it out.

This projector is probably toast.

Anything that will hold water has been requisitioned…

Black Tarp Down

September 13th, 2008 by Jason

It’s 4am and I just woke up. There’s some seriously loud banging outside but I can’t see anything because of the shutters. There’s been some minor water leakage in the Services building. We are all hanging out in the NOC and are watching the news. I went to use the restroom earlier and I could swear the crosswalk was moving.

This is what the dowwnload of “Blazing Saddles” looks like:

We are starting to get heavy rain and wind. We are also able to see transformers exploding all over the city. The ride out team is watching “Blazing Saddles” and I have been taking a crash course in php. My cot is ready.

Pasadena Update

September 12th, 2008 by Jason

Terri is at her parents house with the dogs. We are in constant communication via text messaging. She took the dogs out one last time for a potty break and let me know the wind is blowing pretty hard but no rain yet. More to follow…

That friend of mine is broadcasting live from Garage 6 and sending random updates here.
